Almost nobody in this market publishes a price. We would rather you knew the number before an estimator is standing in your yard, because sticker shock at that point wastes both our time and yours.
Independent cost data for wood fencing in the San Jose and Santa Clara County area puts installed cost at roughly $56 per linear foot. National figures for wood fencing run $20 to $50 per foot. So this area sits at or above the top of the national band, and inside the national range for wrought iron, which nationally runs $50 to $85.
That is not a markup, it is the Bay Area. Labour, disposal, permit costs and the price of getting a truck through South Bay traffic are all higher here than the national average, and every fence company in this valley is working from the same inputs.

| Height | Going from 6ft to 7ft is more than a 17% increase, because it can change the post depth and can trigger a permit. |

| Board style | Board-on-board uses noticeably more material than a butted board fence. It is also the only one that stays private. |
| Demolition and disposal | Taking out and hauling an old fence is real cost. If you can dispose of it yourself, say so. |
| Access and ground | A back yard reachable only through a 32 inch gate, or ground with rock in it, changes the labour more than most people expect. |
