Aptos, California
Aptos combines the two hardest conditions we work in: coastal moisture and sloping wooded lots. Fences here are asked to deal with damp, with grade, and with roots.
We build for the damp first. Pressure treated posts, concrete finished above grade and sloped, gravel in the base of the hole, and hardware chosen for the salt in the air rather than for price.
Most of what we do here is replacement, and much of it is fence that failed at the post while the boards were still sound. That is worth knowing, because it means the visible part of your fence is a poor guide to how much life is left in it.

Local rules
Fence height limits are set by the city or the county, and they are not the same across our service area. We do not publish a number for Aptos here because we have not verified one from the city's own published source, and a wrong figure on a contractor's website is worse than no figure at all.
What we do instead is check the rule for your specific address before we quote, and pull the permit ourselves if one is needed. If you want to see how much these rules vary, the four jurisdictions we have verified are compared side by side here.
